Today, I was assigned by my mom to make potato pea gravy for my little sister. As, I always bring some creativity in my dishes and use some new ingredients so I tried it with this one too in a traditional way but modern ingredients 😉 So, I want my recipe to share with you all. Have a try and share your experiences.
Ingredients:
• Potatoes: 7 – 8
• Peas: 1 cup (frozen)
• Onion: 2 (medium size, small cubes)
• Tomato: 2 (medium size, small cubes)
• Ginger Paste: 1 tbsp
• Garlic Paste: 1 tbsp
• Whole Milk: 1 cup
• Green Chilies: 4 (cut in Julian Shape)
• Red Chilies: 2 (Julian Shape)
• Lemon: 1 (cut in slices)
• Coriander: for garnishing, as much you desired
• Vegetable Oil: 1 cup
• Water: 3 cups (can be added more as much you gravy want)
Spices:
• Red Chili Powder: 1 tsp
• Black Pepper Powder: 1 tsp
• Turmeric Powder: ½ tsp
• Coriander Powder: ½ tsp
• Salt: 1 ½ tsp (or as per taste)
• Sugar: 1 tbsp
• Cinnamon: 2 pieces (Broken)
• Cardamom: 2 pieces (Choti ilaichi)
• White Vinegar: 2 tsp
• Rooh Kewra: few Drops
Method:
• Firstly put vegetable oil in wok and heat it up, fry cardamom seeds, now add ginger-garlic paste and let it fry. In 2 minutes add cinnamon pieces and onion. Fry for 4 minutes or until get brown (at medium heat). Now, add tomatoes and green chilies in the wok and fry them on a medium heat until it is form into a paste.
• Add potatoes and peas into this paste, mix them up.
• Put all spices in it (excluding vinegar & rooh kewra). Mix it well, add milk and let it simmer for two minutes.
• Add water and let it simmer for 20 minutes on low heat. Check it simultaneously (for softness of potatoes).
• Now, add vinegar and mix it. Oil will be on the top. Add few drops of Rooh Kewra (for tempting fragrance). Now, garnish it with red chilies, coriander and lemon slices.
• Eat it with cold salad and regular bread. You’ll never forget the taste. It’s a must try. 🙂

Tips and Tricks:
• To look out more appealing for children you can add some food color sprinkle on the top with salads on side (strip cutting like cucumber or beet root).
• Roll it in Paratha or Baked bread and give them to your children for lunch in school. They’ll surely like it.
• Different shapes of potato can be cut for fun.
